Worlds Fair affiliate Lansky Jones calls upon fellow New Yorkers CJ Fly and Mr. Muthafuckin’ Exquire for “Know The Type”. New music from the three prominent emcees is a rare occasion, I wish it was 2013 again. Each of them had tapes that year that were consistently in rotation and never forgotten. Back then it wasn’t so unheard of for those from the beast coast to put out music in a consistent manner. Yet these artists have kept from over saturating their content and made their work timeless.
Wiardon sets a reminiscent tone with an alluring piano loop as the base of the beat. Lansky gets the first verse which is only fitting it is his record, he displays the laid back and unbothered flow that he is so well known for. Cj Fly chimes in for the hook going back and forth with Lansky. Then embarks into cadence with bars full of assonance and consonance that make his words fall off the tongue with such ease. Exquire gets the last say in the matter and makes sure to get gritty, really bringing that New York mentality to the record.
The visual, directed by Drew Milo, follows the three from the subway to the block as they lay down their bars. This is all in light of Lansky’s debut solo effort, Dangerfield which is set to drop some time in February.
