After over a year of anticipation, Terrance Escobar has returned to deliver his most complete body of work yet in Esco World 2.
Despite being a staple in Atlanta’s underground for years now, often times the name Terrance Escobar doesn’t appear on everyone’s radar when fans are asked to pay dues to the pioneers of the cities underground. Part of that has to do with a low profile. It’s obvious Escobar relies on the music to speak for itself, and he has garnered his own die-hard fanbase to show for it. After the release of Esco World in Fall 2018, Escobar remained reclusive only dropping off three separate singles, driving the demand for his music through the roof.
Blackout, the lead single from the Esco World sequel, racked up 45K plays in just over a month. Modest numbers given the fact that Terrance hardly ever touched his SoundCloud throughout 2019. Still, the new ten track project is unlike anything we’ve heard from Escobar before. An entire new sound is presented in Esco World 2, carefully crafted by the likes of RXLVND, Lamm, Surf, Eyuh, and Bradley Carter. Thouxanbanfauni makes an appearance on two of the tracks as well, proving yet again why Escobar and Fauni are one of the underground’s premiere duos. Tracks such as Fye Ya Ass Up and Surrff state their case as a pair of the projects more refined cuts, along with my personal favorite Friday Nite Smackdown.
It’s clear from Esco World 2 that Terrance Escobar’s sound is evolving, and will continue to evolve throughout 2020. Give the new project a listen below, and be sure to revisit Terrance’s previous catalog while you’re at it.
